Odion Ighalo Banned From Man Utd Training Ground Over Coronavirus Fears

Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has been told to train away from the club's Carrington training ground to try and minimise the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

Ighalo sealed a deadline day switch to United from China, a country who have been severely impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, and was left out of the squad to travel to the training camp in Marbella amid fears border rules would prevent him from returning to the UK.

However, things have gone even further as The Mirror state that Ighalo is not even allowed to train at Carrington, and he has instead spent his time with a personal trainer elsewhere in Manchester.

Given he did not come from the province of Wuhan, which is where the virus originated, United are confident that the risk of infection is almost non-existent, but they still felt as though precautionary measures were necessary.

The coronavirus has already claimed more than 1,100 lives and has begun spreading around the world, so United are understandably keen to do whatever they can to avoid taking any unnecessary risks,

As a result, Ighalo has been training with Wayne Richardson at the GB Taekwondo Centre, where he will have his final session on Thursday.

He will then join up with his teammates to begin preparing for Monday's trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, where manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already confirmed Ighalo could make his debut.

With Marcus Rashford sidelined with a back injury, United had just Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as senior striker options, so a deadline day move for Ighalo was made to give Solskjaer some more rotation options.

The bosses faith is expected to be kept with both Martial and Greenwood, but Ighalo is there to offer something different to both. He is a powerful striker who is not afraid to use his body to his advantage, which will give United a different dynamic in attack.
