Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vowed that Manchester United will 'do everything' to catch up, or even surpass, Liverpool after seeing their rivals storm to a record-breaking Premier League triumph.
The Reds secured their maiden Premier League crown on Thursday after Manchester City failed to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, meanwhile United sit a full 37 points adrift in fifth place.

Admitting that everyone at United was left 'hurt' by seeing their rivals clinch their first Premier League title by such a considerable margin, Solskjaer insisted his side will do all they can to be back challenging at the top of the table.
"Any team that wins the Premier League deserves it, they deserve credit. It is a hard league to win. Credit to Jurgen and his players. Every time you see anyone else lift a trophy, it hurts," Solskjaer told the club's official website.
"That’s the feeling everyone associated with Manchester United has - all our playing staff and supporters. Of course, we want to get back to winning ways and that is our challenge. We’re going to do everything we can to shorten the distance or even go past them, of course."
Despite Jurgen Klopp's side being considerably superior than the rest of the league at present, Solskjaer insisted the Reds will struggle to go on and have similar levels of dominance in the division as seen during Sir Alex Ferguson's United reign.

"The run of titles that we won under Sir Alex, I don’t think that’s going to be easy for anyone to emulate or copy," he added. "Sir Alex was a master of staying at the top so, for me, our challenge is to make sure we don’t go, say, 26 years or more until the next time we win it."
Having set down a marker for his team, the Norwegian did go on to stress that there are other targets United must meet first, including returning to the Champions League and being back in the mix for trophies.
He concluded: "I don’t think it is time to say how far behind [United are]. We are in a position where we have to improve, we have to get into the Champions League, get higher up the league and start challenging for trophies.
"That consistency and efficiency they have shown - that is a challenge for us as well. We know at our best we are very good. We have to do it again and again and that is the challenge for our players going forward."
