Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that midfielder Paul Pogba has been advised to have an operation on his ankle, after the Frenchman failed to make either of United's last two matchday squads.
Pogba missed two months of action with an ankle issue in the back end of 2019, but made his return in the 2-0 loss to Watford. He then played 45 minutes against Newcastle United, but was completely omitted from the squads to face Burnley and Arsenal.
Speaking to BT Sport after his side's 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday, Solskjaer admitted that Pogba could face another month on the sidelines. He will undergo the surgery as soon as possible.
"He's injured now and he'll probably need an operation on his foot," the boss confessed. "And let's see how long it takes for him to get back.
"We’ve had scans and while it’s nothing major, it’s something that has to be sorted and dealt with, within a time frame. He’s been advised to do it as soon as possible.
OGS: "Of course it's playing on our decision making, when you've got two players out - Paul for a month and Scott for two.

"That'll give us less options. But still, it's got to be right, and that's the big point here. If it's available and possible we'll do something."
“We’ve been without him [Pogba] all season and the boys that have played have been fantastic," he admitted.
"The boys who are playing have been fantastic and have really put an effort in. They’ll go again on Saturday and Tuesday and then next Saturday – it’s a relentless period.”
