Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Points to Jürgen Klopp's Tenure at Liverpool as Reason to Not Fear Sack

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called on the United hierarchy to stick to their long-term plan, claiming that sacking him isn't the solution.

Solskjaer's claims come after the Red Devils' woeful 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley on Wednesday night, leaving them six points adrift of Chelsea in fourth and 33 points off Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

But despite their troubles this season, Solskjaer believes that getting rid of him isn't the answer to the club's problems, reiterating to the club about the importance of sticking to their long-term plan.

“When you start on something you stick to that plan,” the Norwegian said, as quoted by the Daily Express.

“I'm not going to change, six, nine or 10 months into the job and believe in a different way. I'm going to stick to what I've been trusted to do and hopefully, that'll be good enough, that what we can see is right. All my conversations with the club have been positive.

“We can't react to all the noise outside. There'll be criticism, you've got to take it, you've got to e stronger mentally.

“I am, the club is, the staff are very strong mentally and we're sticking to what we believe in. I've got full faith,” Solskjaer added.

Despite the clear deficiencies of Solskjaer, the United faithful are yet to vocalise their displeasure at the United legend, although their considerable annoyance at Ed Woodward's and the Glazers' running of the club was made clear during the Burnley defeat.

During the same press conference, the United manager went on to cite Jurgen Klopp and his building of an incredible Liverpool side as a reason not to get rid of him.

“You can see other teams have done well,” Solskjaer said. “Jurgen spent four years building his team and they're doing well now, so it's not going to be a quick fix, not eight or 10 players in the transfer window.

“We've had one proper transfer window and we are trying to do something now."

Even if United struggle for the remainder of the campaign, it's expected that the club will continue to back Solskjaer past the upcoming summer transfer window.
