Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Rubbishes Claims That Paul Pogba Is Not Committed to Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished claims that Paul Pogba wants a move away from Manchester United, insisting that the Frenchman is "desperate" to return to full fitness.

Pogba has endured a season ravaged by injury, making just nine appearances in all competitions due recurring ankle problems. The midfielder has also repeatedly been linked with an Old Trafford departure, with Real Madrid coming close, allegedly, to securing his signature during the summer.

Recently, club legend Paul Scholes questioned the 26-year-old's commitment to the United cause by suggesting that he had little interest in returning to action in the near future.

"I don’t think Pogba is on his way back," Scholes claimed, as quoted by Goal"Even if he is on way back, he’ll be moaning about something else to try to not play - try to get his move away from the club.”

Despite enjoying extensive success together as players, Solskjaer has hit back at Scholes' comments by insisting that Pogba is working hard to return to full fitness.

"Paul has had a terrible season with injuries and he is desperate to play football," the Norwegian stated.

"So if there is one thing I know about Paul it’s that he loves playing football and training, and it’s been playing on his mind.

"Anyone who is injured, you cannot wait to get back on the pitch, and you feel so free and he has been playing with pain so I am sure when he is pain and injury free he will enjoy his football.

"I see a boy who is fed up with being injured and who is desperate to play football. Paul has always been a top professional so I don’t have any doubts that when he comes back he is going to enjoy himself."

Solskjaer was speaking before his side's Carabao Cup meeting with Manchester City. The Red Devils are facing an uphill struggle to reach the final having gone down 3-1 in the first leg at Old Trafford.

The tie takes place amid significant unrest within the United fanbase with several supporters hurling fireworks, flares and smoke bombs at the home of the club's chief executive Ed Woodward late on Tuesday.
