Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be in charge of the club next season, regardless of where they finish in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have been in a see-saw battle with Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves ever since English football restarted, with impressive form from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial, among others, leading the club into the top four.
In previous years, United managers have been under pressure to deliver Champions League football or risk being dismissed from their job - but the Express note that Solskjaer is not under the same scrutiny that his predecessors faced.
In 2014, David Moyes was sacked just eight months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as manager, while Louis van Gaal was also relieved of his duties despite leading United to success in the 2016 FA Cup final.
It was then the turn of José Mourinho, who after a promising first couple of years at the club - which yielded a second place Premier League finish and victory in the Europa League - was also dismissed after a dismal run of form left United out of the running for Champions League qualification.
Solskjaer is in his first full season in charge, and after a difficult start to life as United's permanent boss - following a successful spell as interin manager - things have started to fall into place nicely.
The club's hierarchy, including the Glazer family and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, are said to be happy with the progress being made, and any thoughts of replacing the Norwegian with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino are swiftly on the backburner.
The Argentine has long been linked with the Old Trafford job, but wasn't available to take over when United decided to wield the axe on Mourinho - who ironically replaced Pochettino in the Tottenham hotseat less than a year after he departed Manchester.
He remains out of work and has been linked with many jobs around Europe, most notably at Bayern Munich and Juventus. Talk of a move to United has also refused to go away, despite Solskjaer's impressive work, but for now he won't be making the move.
Whether or not United's strategy will change after an indifferent start to the 2020/21 season remains to be seen.
