Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been voted the Norwegian Footballers' Association Player of the Year. He was awarded the accolade at NISO's annual gala award ceremony.

He told VG Nett: "I am incredibly proud and at the same time sorry that I could not be in Oslo for the ceremony.

"I did not expect to win this award, so I made other plans. I hope I did not win this thanks to pity votes, I hope it's because they think that I have played well.

"I have not achieved that much in the second part of my career and this is the first award I have ever won. I am very proud of it, especially since it's the other players who decide who should get it."

Solskjaer didn't travel to the ceremony as he is still recovering from his hamstring injury.
