"It's great to sort it out and stability-wise it's very important.
"But you know the job is not done just because you've signed a new contract.
"You can't afford to rest on your laurels because there are other players waiting to take your place.
"The likes of Kieran [Richardson] and Phil [Bardsley] have come into the side recently and are hungry for playing time. So you've got to keep on your toes.
"Every day is a great challenge at United and that's what I look forward to.
"I'm really pleased to have signed my contract and now I want to concentrate on winning more trophies with the club."
