Paul Pogba - the one that got away for Manchester United

For some reason or another, one morning I found myself lethargically rummaging through the back of my bedroom draws. What did I find? Nothing but old and neglected clothes. But under the clutter, a familiar red shirt appeared. Once I realised what it was, a little piece inside of me died. Lifeless, as if I was Lord Voldermort and Mr.Potter had destroyed one of my horcruxes. If you haven?t already guessed, the red was indeed from the unmistakable United shirt, and on the back read ?Pogba 42′

I?d watched the Frenchman for several years in the youth ranks of United, virtually every game he did something spectacular. Possessing an unbelievable range of passing, surprisingly quick feet, and a rocket of a shot. A beautifully balanced player, contributing to the youth ranks was a waste of time for Pogba, he was simply too good. Being the hipster fan that I was, I instantaneously went out and got a shirt with his name on the back, little did I know It?d be back to bight at my heels.

After losing patience and falling out of favour with Sir Alex Ferguson, the 20-year-old powerhouse traded the Theatre of Dreams for the white and black of Juventus. The move angered me and indeed every United fan, they?d be lying if they said it didn?t. Most people associated with football questioned the logical aspect of the move. With the likes of Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio commanding the midfield at Juventus, game time would be a bit of a collectors item under Antonio Conte.

Nonetheless, Pogba slowly but surely started to ease his way into the team, the rest is history. Last season he scored 5 goals in total for Juentus from the holding midfeld role, all of them with significant importance. Pogba?s talents were really asserted with some marvellous performances, a younster who can anker down the midfield and completely bully the opposition. A skill that is only mastered by the best, he makes it look quite effortless. Likened to fellow Frenchman Patrick Viera, he plays with a swagger, embracing the pressure that?s put upon him.

Already managing to grab 4 goals and 2 assists this season, Pogba?s ever-changing hairstyle isn?t the only thing being talked about, his rise up the footballing ladder has been the vocal point of Juventus? season, and doesn?t seem to be showing any signs of halting. He?s averaged a passing completion rate of 75% and has also created 4 chances from open play, not extraordinary statistics but assertive to say the least. However, if you want to see extraordinary, watch his goal against Napoli. After a poor first touch, he riffled a stinging volley from outside the box, the footballing world halted and applauded one of the goals of the season. There?s no doubt in my mind that if the accomplished youngster is guided down the right path, he will be one of, if not the best in the next 4/5 years. United?s loss, Juventus? gain.
