Paul Pogba Linked With Player-Plus Cash Move to Juventus in Most Ridiculous Rumour Yet

In these unsettling and uncertain times, the publication of an absurd Paul Pogba transfer rumour is strangely comforting don't you think?

In a period of such upheaval it proves that in the football media, some things never change.

The latest, unbelievable update on the Frenchman's future comes from that bastion of truth and reliable reporting - Tuttosport.

They claim that when the transfer window reopens, Juventus will make an outrageous ploy for Pogba's services by offering Manchester United either Paulo Dybala or Miralem Pjanic, plus £55m in exchange for the Frenchman.

This seems inconceivable considering the overall value of a deal of this nature could be as high as £130m - money that I Bianconeri are unlikely to spend while Cristiano Ronaldo remains on their wage bill.

It was also reportedly recently that despite being linked with a move away from Old Trafford for what seems like an eternity, Pogba now seems likely to stick around for the foreseeable future.

Despite only making seven Premier League appearances this season due to a string of niggling injuries, United are keen for the midfielder to stay and are currently 'optimistic' that this can be achieved.

Though Pogba's current deal expires in 2021, the club have the option to trigger an automatic one-year extension which they will almost certainly do - if he does not pen new terms before then anyway.

A twist in the tale could be the interest of Real Madrid, which continues to bubble away in the background of the Pogba to Juventus saga. Los Blancos pursued the 27-year-old last summer to no avail, but they would have been encouraged by Mino Raiola's recent proclamation that he would like to take one of his clients to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Then again, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that United fans should expect to see Pogba in a red shirt next season, while Raiola himself even alluded to the possibility of the former Juventus man signing a new contract when he returns to fitness.

There are also serious doubts that Real could finance such an audacious move after spending big last summer on the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.
