Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has defended Paul Pogba after the midfielder was booed by his own fans during Manchester United's narrow victory over struggling Norwich on Saturday.
Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick strike saved United's blushes after they had thrown away a two-goal lead to be pegged back 2-2 at Old Trafford, courtesy of goals from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki.
Pogba drew the ire of the home support on two occasions on what was a fraught afternoon following fan protests against the club's owners, the Glazer family, before kick-off.
The 29-year-old was substituted with 17 minutes to go with the score still at 2-2 and was booed as he left the field. Then, reacting angrily to what had happened after full-time, Pogba cupped his hand to his ear before heading down the tunnel and was jeered once again.
Speaking after the match, Man Utd interim manager Rangnick attempted to defend his player but accepted the supporters' frustration.
"Support in the stadium today was great. I can fully understand that the fans are frustrated," He said. "So are we and so are the players and the staff, but I don't think they should target individual players.
"Things have stayed, as far as I know, peaceful. I don't think it makes sense to take or target any individual or players.
“If so, it is a collective responsibility. Even if you want to look into the past, it really doesn't make any sense."
Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and 90min understands he is increasingly likely to leave the club on a free transfer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid all possible destinations.
