RONALDO: I'M OFF

Last updated : 14 February 2007 By Editor
The Sun and others quote Hugo Viana today as saying Ronnie is off, but the quotes look remarkably similar to those we covered yesterday, different only in the sensational twist afforded them today (see here: http://www.redissue.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=324441 )

The Sun:

Ronaldo has told his Portugal team-mates he wants to quit Manchester United. And Valencia star Hugo Viana insists Ronaldo will soon get his wish of moving to Spanish giants Barcelona or Real Madrid.

“He won't be at United for much longer. It's complicated for them to keep him now. Ronaldo has worked hard and, within a little time, he will be with another team more important than United.”

Ronaldo discussed his future with Viana when they linked up for Portugal's clash with Brazil last week.

“Everyone knows if teams like Barca and Madrid want a player, they end up signing him. We told him that his name has been linked to Spain. He's very modest but, in every way, we know he'd like to come.

“A team like Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia would be perfect for him. He has grown very quickly as a player and he is now in the top three players in the world with Ronaldinho and Deco.”
