Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that the transfer saga surrounding Christiano Ronaldo is now finished.

The United winger has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid over the close-season but Fergie has insisted that he will be playing for United this coming season.

"The matter is closed now," Fergie has sid.

"He is a Manchester United player, it's finished.

"He'll be playing here next season believe me. It's finished."
