"We are playing well and there was some great attacking football. There was some great play going forward, but we missed chances.
"We are grateful we got the two because it would have been a bad day if we hadn't got the result.
"We always think [when we are] drawing a game we will take chances but it didn't seem to fall for us."
Rooney's looking forward to the rent boys.
"We're all obviously looking forward to that, and hopefully we can get a result, but first we have to concentrate on Tuesday, do a job there and make sure we qualify for the next stage."
He also added: "I've scored two goals, but more importantly we've got three points to keep us top.
"But I'm doing well and hopefully I can keep scoring the goals and spreading them out within the team."
