RUUD

The Mail:

Bayern Munich are ready to test reports of a peace deal between Sir Alex Ferguson and Ruud van Nistelrooy by making a bid for the prolific Manchester United striker.

Van Nistelrooy's Old Trafford career appeared to be over following the end-of-season bust-up with Ferguson prior to the final Premiership game of the season against Charlton.

The Dutch forward was ordered out of the team hotel and was then told he was not welcome in the home camp for Roy Keane's testimonial 48 hours later.

AC Milan and Tottenham are among the clubs who have already been linked with Van Nistelrooy, 30 next month, with United privately claiming they would want to recoup at least £15million of the £18.5million they paid PSV Eindhoven for his services five years ago.

The Times report what was here yesterday. Just for those that might not have seen:

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern chairman: "First of all we must find out whether he is really on the market for a fair price."

More:

"He (Van Nistelrooy) wanted to come to us in 2001 when his move to Manchester United had not been sealed.

"We will do nothing behind the backs of Manchester United."
