RUUD 'NOT MADE OF ICE'

Last updated : 09 October 2005 By Ed

Ruud apologises to Dutch team-mates after training row with Ron Vlaar.

"Someone told me that I got a serious reprimand from the Dutch coach, but it wasn't that bad.

"I did not have to bend down and kneel.

"I am not made of ice.

"It is part of me, everyone can see that and I will not hide it.

"If things aren't going as I want them to then I get annoyed."

As regards oppnents:

"But I am always being pestered and p****d off so much on the field that it becomes a pain and a problem for me.

"Do you want to know what they do? They stamp on my feet, stamp on my toes, and constantly say nasty insults to me.

"People mention when I laughed at the Andorra player, but they did not see the same player laugh at me when I missed a penalty. That was what started it all.

"If football is a banquet then scoring goals in the main dish for me and I am a perfectionist in that respect.

"I want to show in every game and every training session that I am a good player, so things will happen.

"I try to control my emotions, but I am not someone who is made of ice so you have to accept me for what I am."
