MANCHESTER United's search for a new number nine could end in the next month.

MANCHESTER United are set to stay clear of the January sales scramble when the mid-season transfer window opens next Wednesday.

Reds' chief executive Peter Kenyon has told M.E.N. Sport that he is not expecting to do any transfer business over the 31-day shopping period.

Despite mounting speculation over potential Old Trafford imports and a list of nine strikers reportedly drawn up by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Kenyon insists new faces are unlikely.

“We've got nothing planned. The manager has not come to me to say he wants this player or that," Kenyon says.

"Sir Alex and I talk all the time but there is nothing in the pipeline."
