Scholes To Be Rested

Scholes made his comeback from knee surgery with a substitute's appearance in the Carling Cup tie victory against Blackburn Rovers in midweek but manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he is unlikely to play in the Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"Scholesy came through his half-hour against Blackburn but I don't think we'll involve him on Saturday," Fergie has said.

"He'll certainly get some football in Japan (for the FIFA Club World Cup). That's maybe the best route for him."
