SCOUSE KILLER

"The goalkeeper was unlucky and I was surprised," Forlan told MUTV. "I had to be calm. There was just a tiny space to score and I tried to hit the target. Then I started to run."

And thought about taking his shirt off but then changed his mind as he did later too.

"When Giggs gave me the ball, he went to the penalty area. I thought he was offside, so I took a touch more and tried a shot," he said.

"It is nice to win such an important game and I was happy to score. I know a little about the history of this match but it is hard to feel it when you are playing. Liverpool have got a good team but I thought we played well. When you win like this, it is good for your confidence."

Ferguson had nothing but praise for Forlan. "He keeps trying and the world loves a trier."
