Now that Scholes has gone, the likes of Sneijder are needed at Old Trafford, but the deal looked to be dead after the player said there was no reason to leave Inter at the moment.

Sneijder said: “I love Inter with all my heart, but I don’t know if I’ll stay. The Inter fans have always treated me very well. They were wonderful and I want to simply thank them.
“Only God will decide where my future lies. I can be certain of one thing: if I remain at Inter, then I will give my all to win everything again.”
