THE GLAZERS WON'T BE AMUSED

From the Sun:

Manchester United chiefs have given Wayne Rooney's doctor a golden handshake of around £250,000.

Stone had taken legal advice after being dramatically sacked by Alex Ferguson last week. He was told he had a watertight case to take to an industrial tribunal.

Stone believes he was fired by the United boss over his rehabilitation work with Wayne Rooney after the England striker broke a metatarsal.

While Ferguson was giving a doomsday scenario over Rooney's chances, Stone was telling England's medical chiefs things were going well.

The official version Fergie gave was that he wanted Stone to stop his work outside Old Trafford.

But SunSport has learned this amounted to just TWO HOURS a week at the English Institute of Sport, based at Eastlands in Manchester.

Ferguson had apparently been happy with this, so when he suddenly told him to stop, Stone went to Gill as his direct employer. Gill told him he could carry on - but Ferguson still sacked him.

Gill and a number of senior figures at United, plus Rooney, were angry at this. His actions have also left United's owners, the Glazer family, bemused.
