THE GOALS WILL COME

Speaking to Pravda Wayne Rooney has said how he hopes to follow Paul Scholes by scoring more goals now he has ended his barren spell.

"There were a lot of people talking about my form and how I wasn't scoring goals but if you ask anyone who knows me I'm not too concerned about getting goals as long as the team is doing well," Rooney told MUTV.

"Before the Bolton game I was playing well. I knew the goals would come and I'm grateful that they have come against Bolton. That has shut a lot of people up really.

"You've seen with Scholesy, you score once then more goals come, and hopefully that can continue for me."

Meanwhile his strike partner Louis Saha said:

"People who question Wayne Rooney do not know anything about football,"

"He answered everyone with his hat-trick against Bolton - he is a terrific player.

"We never doubted he would come back scoring and in this game he really showed his talent."
