TOLD YOU SO

Ferguson was happy with the way United played yesterday although he blamed the sides finishing for the defeat.

He said: "We played some fantastic football but our finishing could have been better - we had some fantastic opportunities.

"We had some excellent opportunities, but maybe with our decision making, and maybe our patience just to play at particular times and moments.

"I am happy with our performance, we didn't deserve to lose that, but I've been speaking about that for a few days in that we've been throwing a lot of chances away, away from home in many of the games, and today was another example of that."

"We didn't deserve to lose but we have to gather ourselves and start another charge - we have got to show our mettle.

"That's the true mark of champs and we've proved it in the past.

"Two fantastic strikes won the game for them (Chelsea) out of nothing," added Ferguson, referring to Chelsea's 3-2 win at Everton.

"It's been a very important day for Chelsea and it's not been a great day for us - but the championship race is not going to be decided in December.

"There are a lot of important games to come and I'm happy with the form of my team - they are playing well."

Curbishley was obviously a happy man.

"To get a win over Manchester United anyway, but we were desperate for a win after the results yesterday," Curbishley told Sky Sports 1.

"It was a big blow to see the two teams win away and pull away from us, but we've just clawed some back and what a great way to do it against United.

"We set off with a lot of enthusiasm, which you expect with a new manager coming in, and one or two were getting really tired.

"It was tough in the second half, but the goal just gave us that little bit of a lift and the opportunity to hang on to something."
