Twitter Blasts Into Meltdown Mode After Man Utd (at Long, Long Last) Strike Bruno Fernandes Deal

Bruno Fernandes' move to Manchester United is actually happening!

That's right, after months and months (and months) of flirting with Fernandes' signature, United have pulled their finger out and agreed to sign the Sporting CP captain in a €55m deal, which includes another €25m in add-ons.

Fans in the north west are understandably ecstatic that their club are (finally) showing some big ambition in the transfer market, addressing an obvious weakness in their squad which could give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the boost he needs until the summer.

For fans of other clubs, and everyone here at 90min for that matter, everyone else is just looking forward to this monumental, everlasting transfer saga to come to a timely end.

Despite the gravity of the news on Tuesday, the social media reaction to United's agreement for Fernandes was actually really subdued...

Oh, who are we kidding? Twitter went into full-blown meltdown so badly that it would make Donald Trump get jealous of all the attention that's going the way of Fernandes.

From joy to disbelief, here's some of the best...

The breakthrough with Sporting CP came as a surprise.

Just hours earlier, it was suggested that Barcelona had been in contact with the Portuguese club to discuss a possible transfer.

It's not known if there really was interest from La Liga's reigning champions, or if it simply a sly leak from super agent Jorge Mendes - who doesn't even represent Fernandes but got involved anyway - to give United a much-needed kick up the backside.

But at this stage, it doesn't matter. And those United fans who just a few hours ago were heartbroken can at least see the funny side.

Well, most of them at least.

How the deal has come about ultimately doesn't matter.

It looks like Fernandes is going to become a Manchester United player this week.

But most importantly, we can all try to forget the last 18 months of this transfer saga ever happened as we move on to something else in 2020.
