United to sell RVP and Di Maria to make way for Bale

To pay for the move United feel they will need to offload players in the summer with Robin van Persie and Angel di Maria named as the players that will be sold to take £500k off their wage bill.

Bale has been a target for Manchester United since his Spurs days and recent criticisms in Spain regarding the Real Madrid ace and recent missed chances in the Champions League match against Juventus appear to have isolated the player with some suggesting the player has been made something of a scapegoat for the failings of the team.

Bale made a great start to his time at Real but this season has been tough with fans hurling abuse at the player for what could become an empty-handed season which given the huge investment in players will be seen as an unacceptable return.

The Mirror goes on to state that the Real Madrid club president is set to act on the frustrations of the fans and put Bale up for sale with United understood to be more than happy to take the winger off their hands

Madrid will seek to recoup as much of their initial fee as possible and are expected to hold out for around £80million.

That figure is understood to be within the means of a Manchester United flush with the spoils of a world record Adidas kit deal but they will also need to sell players to keep the wage bill within their means.

Robin van Persie has had an injury hit season with many suggesting he could be shown the exit at Old Trafford despite being a major factor in them winning the title in his debut season

Van Persie will be out of contract in 12 months and the report states they have no interest in renewing and feel it is time for him to move on

Di Maria is considered something of a disappointment with PSG interested and he could either be sold or put on loan with an obligation to buy.
