United are being linked with Valencia duo David Villa and David Silva.

According to media reports, United boss Sir Alex Fergsuon is interested in signing the pair from the cash-strapped Spanish side.

"The club made a great effort to keep our players this summer but our economic situation remains very serious," Valencia's club director Fernando Gomez has told Spanish TV.

"It was a success to keep them, but there comes a point when you can't stand it anymore.

"We may have to sell Villa."
