VIDIC WANTS TO BE RIO'S BRUCE

Nemanja Vidic wants to share the same success with Rio Ferdinand that Bruce and Pallister had together in the nineties.

“I didn't get the chance to see Bruce and Pallister live but I have watched them on tapes.

“I know very well who they are and what they gave for United. Everybody talks about Bruce and Pallister in superlatives and they deserve it.

“I want to be at the same level with Rio. It is a great honour that people are starting to compare us with them.”

And looking ahead to tomorrow night.

Vidic said: “Last season we did not qualify for the knockout rounds, which was catastrophic.

“Celtic are a great club and I've heard that our matches are pure derbies. I cannot wait for that, the call of Glasgow is very strong for me.

“But United this season are much stronger, tougher and, frankly, better. We are efficient as a collective.”

He also comes from the Patrice Evra school of settling in to life in England.

“First of all I had to drive on the left and get used to taking tea with milk.

“That was something really new for me. But I accept these ‘challenges!”
