Premier League clubs are being linked with players left, right and center, but there is one particular transfer that could beat all the others early on.
It has been reported over the past few days that Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has had a disagreement with club president Florentino Perez over a new contract
Media reports claim the Spanish international wants wage on par with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Yes, you might have guessed money is involved
Ramos didn't exactly help himself however when he publicly backed recently sacked Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
He has based his reasoning on the fact that while he is one of the clubs longest serving players, he isn't being given the respect by the board he feels he deserves
(Well, when you're constantly seeing Bale makes the headlines for playing poorly and the club continuously backing him, you might want a pat on the back as well!)
So with the news comes interest from the vultures that are other clubs, Manchester United being the main culprits
With the Red Devils back in the Champions League this year they will be looking to strengthen in all departments
Ramos would fit the bill perfectly.
Not only does he posses a more than impressive CV but he also has a personality as well, something United have been missing for a few years now
There isn't particularly anyone in the back line the grabs the game by the scruff of its neck, orders their troops and gives players a good telling off when they seem it necessary (given, he is a little over the top at times, but you get the point)
The last time they did was with the highly impressive duo of Ferdinand and Vidic
Both had no nonsense attitudes and were successful with them too.
He also scores the odd vital goal here and there (remember the last minute Champions League final "Fergie time" goal against rivals Atletico?), the Manchester giants could really do with someone of that ilk.
With Luis Van Gaal's injury list costing him majorly last season, and being made up of youth and squad rotation defenders, a player with not only world class ability but also a voice of leadership (as well as the uncanny ability of being able to remain injury free on a consistent basis) means his team would have a vastly more settled back line and reap a lot more rewards in general.
As the great Sir Alex Ferguson once said "Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles".
