Manchester United secured their first Premier League victory of the season in emphatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, defeating Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford.
Following an opening weekend defeat away to Hull City, head coach Michael Carrick witnessed a perfect response led by skipper Bruno Fernandes.
The visitors took a surprise lead in the 29th minute when defender Leif Davis found the net. However, United levelled before half-time when Fernandes struck in the 40th minute.
The hosts then took complete control during an explosive second half. An unfortunate own goal from Jacob Greaves put United ahead, before Fernandes converted a penalty in the 61st minute and completed his hat-trick with a composed finish seven minutes later.
Bryan Mbeumo added United fifth in the 82nd minute to seal the three points, before Ipswich substitute Chuba Akpom claimed a late consolation in stoppage time.
