Manchester United salvaged a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening thanks to a dramatic 89th minute equaliser from Matheus Cunha. Michael Carrick's side appeared destined for a third league defeat after a difficult second-half showing in West London.
United controlled early possession and struck the woodwork twice in the opening 45 minutes through Bruno Fernandes and Cunha. However, Fulham took the lead in the 63rd minute when Lisandro Martinez inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net following a breakdown in communication with goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Fulham defended resolutely and looked set to claim all three points, but Cunha's long-range effort took an enormous deflection off David Affengruber to wrong-foot Bernd Leno in the dying moments. The draw leaves United in 12th place on five points, while Fulham remain in the relegation places.
