Spalletti was impressed by Wayne Rooney whose finish gave an important away goal.
He added: "Wayne Rooney has shown his quality by scoring the equaliser in what was one of the few chances that they created.
"We were aware of Manchester United's quality, we knew they could hit back at any time.
"After Rooney scored my team lost their focus a little bit but we soon got it back."
