A LOSING BATTLE

Peter Kenyon has voiced his opinion that the latest
Premiership TV deal has put another nail in the coffin on
the traditional kick off time of 3pm on a Saturday:

“In a difficult market, the outcome of the negotiations was
a good result for the Premier League. They have also
protected the 3pm window but with 138 games to be shown,
there has to be a balance and the downside for us is that we
will not be kicking off at 3pm that often.

“At least people can plan when they are going to watch games
from next season and beyond.”

Not much of a consolation is it?

“We would urge the Premier League and the police authorities
to work with supporters to ensure the inconvenience to fans
is minimised.” said Mark Longden, press officer for the
Independent Manchester United Supporters' Association.
