A REGULAR CHRISTMAS DO

First United:

The Sun claims that the United player's Christmas party was twice interrupted when Darren Fletcher and Rio Ferdinand were punched and teammates had to intervene.

The first incident came just before midnight when a 'spotty friend of a reserve team player' punched Darren Fletcher, knocking him to the floor.

Neville, Rooney, Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand all piled in to help out Fletcher - but the trouble was apparently soon calmed.

Then at about 2.30am a mysterious 'man in a white suit' punched Ferdinand, seemingly out of the blue. So the by-now drunk players all piled in once again to have another brawl. The players are said to have drunk £50,000-worth of champagne before leaving the club at 5am.'

And over to city:

'Nicolas Anelka was left stunned after a boozed-up fan punched him at Manchester City’s Christmas party.

The controversial French star was enjoying a night out. Then a gang of supporters taunted him over recent comments about wanting to play for a ‘big’ club.

Seconds later they punched one of Anelka’s non-football pals who was at the bash, before landing a blow on Anelka’s chest.'
