A TABLE FOR TWO

Edwards will be honoured at a special dinner at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Martin Edwards steps down as chairman on 30 June and plans to slip into the background at the club as a 37-year family link with United ends.

Despite the club’s success, and the part Edwards played in appointing Sir Alex Ferguson as manager in 1986, he failed to win over the majority of United supporters and will be remembered by many for twice trying to sell his majority shareholding, as well as giving his blessing to a takeover bid from BSkyB.

Tuesday's dinner in his "honour" will be held at Old Trafford.
