Aaron Wan-Bissaka charged with driving while disqualified

Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been charged with driving while disqualified earlier this summer.

The 23-year-old was accused of driving his Lamborghini Urus on the A34 in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on June 23, despite being temporarily banned from holding or applying for a license.

As noted by the Daily Mail, Wan-Bissaka also faces charges of driving without insurance and of driving otherwise than in accordance with a license.

The case was presented to Stockport Magistrate's Court on Thursday but has been adjourned until September 1.

The United defender has not entered a plea and did not attend the initial hearing on Thursday.

Should he be found guilty of driving while disqualified, Wan-Bissaka could face a prison sentence of up to six months, but could simply be given a community order instead.

Wan-Bissaka played the full 90 minutes of United's Premier League opener, the 5-1 thumping of Leeds United, and is expected to retain his spot in the squad after the Red Devils put their pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier on hold.

United identified Trippier as the ideal man to compete with Wan-Bissaka for a spot in the squad but baulked at Atletico's asking price, which stood at over £20m.

Instead, United are prepared to give young Diogo Dalot a second shot at life at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international, who spent last season on loan with AC Milan, impressed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in pre-season and is now likely to be given a chance to prove himself over the coming season.

Dalot had a spot on the bench for the Leeds game, as did 20-year-old Brandon Williams, who is soon expected to complete a season-long loan to Norwich City.
