Manchester United Launches Pioneering Accessibility Website
Manchester United today announced the launch of the UK's first football
team accessible website, www.manutd.com/access/, re-affirming its position
as the world leader in provisioning for disabled access to sporting
experiences.

A pioneer in its commitment to provisioning for the disabled community, it
was critical to Manchester United that www.manutd.com/access/ became the
first sporting website to provide facilities that positively improved the
experience of all its users, while offering the highest level of engagement
and entertainment. Consequently www.manutd.com/access/ caters not only for
screen reader users but goes much further in considering the needs of a
wide variety of target users groups ranging from the visually impaired,
motor impaired, users with dyslexia, colour blind users and the deaf.

The site has recently been short-listed for a British
Interactive Media Association (BIMA) award.

David Gill, Chief Executive, says: "At Manchester United we endeavour to
set the best standards both on and off the field, and we believe the
quality of our accessible website will show the way forward for other
sports organisations. It is important that football remains accessible to
all, and in setting up this special version of manutd.com we hope even more
United fans will now be able to enjoy the benefits of following the game
and their club on the internet."
