ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD

Less than 30’000 showed up last night for their first UEFA
Cup tie (TNS was a qualifier) leaving the ground 18’000
below capacity. Those that were there sang “We’re not really
here” Was the irony lost on them? City were booed off the
pitch at half time for the second time in two home matches,
and after the game Keegan voiced his disappointment at the
City supporters:

"We needed the crowd to get behind us but they booed us off
in our own stadium. I find that terribly disappointing.

"They were starting to get to one or two players. It is not
what you need when things are not going your way. I have
never had a team which has been booed off before. Even when
we were 4-0 down against Arsenal last season that didn't
happen.

"If players are not trying I won't protect them but they
were working really hard and didn't deserve that treatment.

"David came in and said sorry, but the thing that
disappoints me most is the reaction of the fans. We need
their support rather than have them turning on us but they
were getting at one or two of our players and I have never
had a team booed off at half-time."
