From the MEN:

West Brom have given up on landing Giuseppe Rossi as part of the deal expected to bring Polish international goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak to Old Trafford.

The Reds have had three bids for the 24-year-old stopper turned down.
Baggies manager Bryan Robson was holding out in the hope of getting Rossi on a season's loan as part of the deal but United are intent on keeping the exciting Italian-American striker after losing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Now the two clubs are talking in strict money terms and Robson left Kuszczak out of his team's season opener at home to Hull on Saturday.

Robson indicated that thrashing out a price is all that remains before United draft in Kuszczak as number two to Edwin van der Sar.

"There is only one question mark about any player in my squad and that is regarding Kuszczak," said Robson.

"That is because it is a club like Manchester United who are involved. I've given my recommendation to the chairman and now it's in his hands."
