Anelka a Red? No chance
Chris Bailey

For some reason, a section of United fans have it in their heads the absurd, and frankly farcical, notion that Nicolas Anelka is going to hop into one of his fleet of luxury cars and drive around a corner in Carrington straight into the Reds' training ground.

City fans would rather sink back into the footballing wilderness than trade their best assets with their deadly rivals. And manager Kevin Keegan and the board know that only too well.

The superstar Frenchman is more than another goal-scoring forward - he is a talisman, a symbol that City mean exactly what they say when they promise to chase Champions League football with all their hearts and all their cash.(hopefully just like Leeds, ed.)

This is the best bit.

United had their chance in the past to sign Anelka and they didn't take it then. So their fans will just have to join the queue and buy a ticket for Eastlands if they want to see Nico on a regular basis.
