‘Manchester United will start their preparations for next season with a match against Clyde at Broadwood, it was announced yesterday. Sir Alex Ferguson has responded to a request by the First Division side to play a match in Scotland, and has promised to send a strong side to Cumbernauld for the all-ticket clash on 16 July.’
