Anthony Martial keen on Sevilla loan but Man Utd deal complicated

Anthony Martial is said to be keen on a January loan move to Sevilla - but 90min understands that Man Utd's financial demands may scupper a move.

Martial's representatives have publicly revealed that the Frenchman is unhappy at Old Trafford, owing to a lack of playing time, and there has been no shortage of interest in him from both the Premier League and from abroad.

PSG and Lyon have both been linked with taking Martial back to Ligue 1, while Barcelona, Juventus and newly rich Newcastle - who are languishing in the Premier League relegation zone - have also been named as possible suitors.

Sky Sports note that it's Sevilla's interest that Martial is personally keen to take advantage of, because the 26-year-old is confident that he'll see regular action at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium - particularly as their star striker, Youssef En-Nesyri, is likely to be out until mid-February with a muscle injury.

Martial is even said to be planning talks with Ralf Rangnick over the next few days to discuss his future, where it's likely that he'll outline his desire to break into Didier Deschamps' France squad for the 2022 World Cup; something he's unlikely to achieve sitting on the sidelines at Old Trafford.

However, it's 90min's understanding that the Andalusians may struggle to match the financial demands of United, who are more than happy for Martial to stay and be a part of their squad.

Were the Red Devils to entertain a deal, they would want any club taking Martial on loan to cover half of his wages - which are in excess of £250,000-per-week - and agree to a mandatory deal at the end of the loan contract.

For Sevilla, that type of financial commitment is likely to be a problem, even though they stand a decent chance of progressing deep into the Europa League and are riding high in La Liga - they currently occupy second spot in the table, six points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Furthermore, Martial is contracted to United until 2024, with the option of an extra year, and the recent spate of positive Covid-19 cases at the club has highlighted the importance of squad depth - meaning United may be keen to keep him around regardless of his intention to leave.
