ARSENE STICKS HIS OAR IN

Is this another sign that Wenger may be a little concerned about our latest acquisition? He seems to be saying anything he can think of to try to unsettle him, but yet again his comments do not stand up to close scrutiny.

His odd comments about a potential conflict of interest for Everton due to the performance related clauses in the transfer deal, after having loaned Jermaine Pennant to Leeds for the whole of last season, are followed by these concerns about Wayne playing at too young an age,

"You lose many players in the modern game between 16 and 21 because of over-use and injuries. It is a danger for a player of Rooney's age.

"What you forget is that at 18, your bones still grow. Rooney looks like a guy who has finished his growth but it's not true.

"You would be amazed at the amount of players who are 20 or 21 and have already had major surgery. It never makes you better, always weaker."

All very well you may think, but why is Arsene so concerned about our youngster when Reyes, 21, has splayed 8 matches so far this season and Fabregas, 17, has played 6? Is someone in North London a little worried perchance?
