Barcelona express interest in Man Utd's Marcus Rashford

Barcelona have expressed interest in signing unsettled Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer, as the player considers his future at the club.

Rashford has endured a testing 2021/22 season, registering just five goals and two assists in 26 games. He also clashed with fans that shouted criticism at him as he was trying to board the team bus following United's Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

As confirmed by 90min last week, Rashford is currently contemplating his Old Trafford future. He has been unhappy with the playing time afforded to him by Ralf Rangnick and would have no shortage of interest if he decided to leave the club.

90min understands that West Ham, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid are all monitoring the situation and Manchester Evening News notes that Barcelona are also admirers of the 24-year-old England international.

Barça are expected to continue their squad revamp this summer with an agreement for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen already sewn up, and another deal for Cesar Azpilicueta in the works too. La Blaugrana are also in pole position to sign Milan's Franck Kessie on a free transfer.

However, they are in need of strengthening up front as well. Luuk de Jong and Martin Braithwaite have been linked with moves away from the club, while it is not yet decided whether Adama Traore will sign permanently when his loan from Wolves expires at the end of the season.

Barcelona have enquired about Rashford before, contacting United before he signed his current long-term contract in 2019. That deal expires at the end of next season, although the club does have the option of extending it by another year until 2024.
