BBC REPORT ON MEC PROTEST

‘Around 30 United fans came onto the pitch during the match against Birmingham City at Altrincham’s Moss Road ground holding a ’Not for Sale’ banner.

’The demonstration lasted around three minutes, ending when the fans were shepherded off the field by stewards.

’The Manchester Education Committee were responsible for a demonstration at Hereford racecourse earlier this year against Cubic Expression, currently the biggest shareholders in the club, who were in dispute with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the time over stud fee rights in a racehorse.

’Earlier this week club director Maurice Watkins had his car vandalised – an attack thought to be in retribution for the sale of one million shares in February which later ended up as part of Glazer’s 19.1% stake.’
