Will he / Won't he sign a new deal?
Manchester United chairman Peter Kenyon has revealed that he expects David Beckham's new contract to be signed before the World Cup, and maybe as soon as next week.

England skipper Beckham, who is currently recovering from a broken foot, has been in negotiations for a long time now. His current deal still has a year left to run but has had trouble agreeing a image rights deal. His basic salary is sorted but Beckham's agent is trying to squeeze every last penny out of United for the right to use David Becckham as a brand.

Kenyon said "I am now convinced that the contract with David will be in place before he flies off to Japan with England."

"It could even be put to bed within a week or so."

"David has been making strong statements about wanting to remain at United for some time and, despite all the speculation, I have always been convinced he would stay with us. In my mind, this latest contract agreement was never in doubt."
