The England captain is still negotiating a contract to remain at Old Trafford, leading to inevitable speculation suggesting he would move elsewhere.
However Inter Milan Chairman Massimo Moratti said yesterday that he was happy with his clubs players in that position and hinted that he was not prepared to splash out large sums for single players.
"I really don't like to auction for a player and in the football league we are working to introduce some way to reduce the expenses for players," said Moratti.
"Therefore this really isn't the right time to think about spending huge amounts of money for a single player."
