BECKS CAN GET BETTER

When Carlos Queiroz meets David Beckham for the first time this week, he will calmly assure the England captain that he can make him a better player.

He will do the same when he is introduced to Roy Keane, Juan Sebastian Veron, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt. Everyone on Manchester United's illustrious roll call.

That, Queiroz is convinced, is his calling. That is why the 49-year-old man from Mozambique was plucked from the soccer wilderness by Sir Alex Ferguson to be his new No 2 at Old Trafford.

'It is a very complex situation, to have some of the best players in the world and make them believe they can progress through hard work,' said Queiroz.

'Even when you reach the standards that United have, there is always room for improvement.
