* Alleged dodgy dealings at Marseille again: Fourteen people went on trial yesterday for alleged embezzlement.

The defendants, including club president Robert Louis-Dreyfus, face charges of embezzling €22.1m (£15.2m) in funds involving the transfer of 15 players between 1997 and 1999.

The 14, who also include ex-team manager Rolland Courbis, could face up to five years in prison and fines of up to €375,000 if convicted.

Courbis's lawyers are seeking testimony from two former players, ex-French star Christophe Dugarry and former Middlesbrough striker Fabrizio Ravanelli.
