"For me he is a big person in all respects," Scolari said.
"I remember the day of our defeat to Greece in Euro 2004 and after the disappointment passed, he arrived at the positives.
"This winning character has helped take Portugal to a new level in the last few years, and the example was at the World Cup in 2006."
However he also thinks he needs to work harder to become the best player in the world.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is a wonder in all aspects but there are other men in the world with similar qualities. He needs to keep working to be the unique number one."
