BIGWIG HITS OUT AGAIN

Gordon Taylor last night slammed UK Sport for the nationwide guessing game sparked by the Nandrolone drugs scandal.

The angry PFA chief was speaking after UK Sport - who brought the scandal to light - closed ranks with the Football Association and refused to name the player who has tested positive for the banned substance.

"This is all a tease and very irresponsible. It makes life incredibly difficult for everyone. Why bring this issue into the public domain at such an early stage?

"They have sparked a feeding frenzy by releasing these details which they know are going to grab everyone's interest. It's an emotive subject and they know that by teasing people with such scant information this sort of thing is going to happen.

"They had not even run it by the PFA first. We are furious. Not only that, it's really unfair on the poor lad who is at the centre of all this.

"To be fair to everyone you have to have a hearing before you start releasing information. Surely that would clear up all this speculation and eliminate the probability of other footballers being tainted by it.

"The whole thing is a farce."

As if a hearing would be able to take place without a similar media frenzy Mr Taylor. The only farce is the FA's anti-drugs policy, if they had anything about them half the PL players would be banned for cocaine abuse alone.
